Last month, Our CEO Geoff and BDM Imogen had an amazing experience at THE HEAT in Didcot. The HEAT is hosted annually by VOYAGERS Climate-Tech community and brings together a heterogeneous crowd of people all working to tackle the pressing challenges of climate change through the development of groundbreaking new technologies.
This year, we were thrilled to have a stand at The HEAT, where we engaged with a diverse group of visitors, from developers and scientists, to investors and fellow start-up founders. The conversations we had were simply inspiring. People were keen to learn more about bioacoustics and how it can be applied across a variety of projects for a range of sectors.
The team behind the event produced an excellent available on YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4W7cxdXWnEQ and Imogen is on for a few seconds (about 34 seconds in..)
One of the most frequent topics of discussion revolved around the potential for bioacoustics to be used in Biodiversity Net Gain Credits and biodiversity credits more broadly. As the world continues to shift toward valuing natural capital, we see a growing interest in how sound monitoring can contribute to projects that aim to preserve and enhance ecosystems. This technology offers a non-invasive way to monitor wildlife populations and environmental changes, making it a valuable tool for biodiversity conservation and sustainability initiatives such as regenerative farming .
We also explored the future of bioacoustics and how its scope will continue to evolve. There’s growing anticipation that the technology will expand to include a broader range of species, from elusive creatures like water voles to the charismatic dormouse. These developments are set to revolutionise how we track and understand biodiversity, creating opportunities for more data-driven conservation efforts.
Attending The HEAT was not only about sharing our work but also about connecting with like-minded individuals who are just as passionate about making a difference. It was fantastic to witness the energy and creativity of the people in the room, and we left feeling inspired by the wealth of ideas and collaborations taking shape.
This event reaffirmed our belief that, together, we can push the boundaries of climate-tech innovation and build a more sustainable future. Thanks to everyone who stopped by our stand—your curiosity and enthusiasm continue to fuel our journey forward.
We’re already looking forward to the next one!
