Join us on Monday the 31st of March for an insightful webinar exploring the power of bioacoustics for regenerative agriculture. This is a free online event and will run from 10:30am–12:00pm GMT.
This session will build on our previous webinars, offering new insights into leveraging soundscape analysis to quantify the impact of regenerative farming practices on farmland bird diversity. Once you have a baseline for your biodiversity, we will also discuss ways to encourage and support different bird species, and potentially encourage newcomers on-site!
We will be joined by several team members from Wendling Beck: Glenn Anderson, Co-Founder, and Alex Begg, Partner. Wendling Beck is a 2,000 acre nature recovery project in Dereham, Norfolk, focused on habitat creation, nature restoration, and regenerative farming.
Why Bioacoustics Matters in Regenerative Agriculture
Regenerative agriculture focuses on restoring soil health, increasing biodiversity, and supporting ecosystems through sustainable farming practices such as cover cropping and minimal tillage. By incorporating bioacoustics, farmers and ecologists can:
- Quantify changes in farmland bird populations.
- Gain insights from biodiversity indices like the Farmland Bird Index.
- Develop strategies to encourage and sustain diverse bird species.
In this webinar, you will learn:
- The story of Wendling Beck – a 2,000-acre nature recovery project in Norfolk, creating habitats and supporting nature-driven processes on a large scale which is delivering a model that provides financial and environmental resilience and can be scaled and replicated.
- How bioacoustics has been used at Wendling Beck as part of a portfolio of ways changes to biodiversity is being tracked
- Monitoring Change: Practical strategies for measuring shifts in biodiversity on regenerative farms using bioacoustics
Join the Wilder Sensing Webinar Series
This webinar is part of the Wilder Sensing Webinar Series, delivered by the Biological Recording Company and Wilder Sensing, with support from Wildlife Acoustics and NHBS. Previous sessions, including “How Can We Use Sound to Measure Biodiversity?” and “Can Passive Acoustic Monitoring of Birds Replace Site Surveys?”, are available for viewing online.
