Cookie Policy

Last updated: July 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Wilder Sensing (“we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on our website at wildersensing.com (the “Site”). It should be read alongside our [Privacy Policy] and [Terms & Conditions].

By using our Site you can choose whether to accept non-essential cookies. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time (see “How to manage your cookies” below).

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet or mobile) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the site owner.

Cookies can be:

  • Session cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser; or
  • Persistent cookies, which remain on your device until they expire or you delete them.

We also use similar technologies such as pixels, tags and local storage, which we refer to collectively as “cookies” in this policy.

How we use cookies

We use cookies for two purposes:

  1. Strictly necessary — to make the Site function and keep it secure.
  2. Analytics — to understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it. These are only set if you give your consent.

We do not currently use cookies for advertising or to build marketing profiles of you. (Update this line if you add advertising or remarketing tools.)

Cookies we use

Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for the Site to work and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually only set in response to actions you take, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in, or filling in forms. You can set your browser to block these, but parts of the Site may not work.

Cookie Provider Purpose Duration
Consent preference cookie wildersensing.com Remembers your cookie consent choices Up to 12 months
WordPress / session cookies wildersensing.com Core site functionality and security; set when using forms or interactive features Session to ~1 year

Cookie names will depend on the consent tool and WordPress configuration in use — confirm exact names before publishing.

Analytics cookies (set only with your consent)

These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our Site. They tell us which pages are the most and least popular and how visitors move around the Site. All information these cookies collect is aggregated. We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4), a service provided by Google LLC.

Cookie Provider Purpose Duration
_ga Google Analytics Distinguishes unique users by assigning a randomly generated client ID 2 years
_ga_<container-id> Google Analytics Used by GA4 to persist session state 2 years
_gid Google Analytics Distinguishes users (where used) 24 hours
_gat / _dc_gtm_<id> Google Analytics Used to throttle the request rate 1 minute

If Google Tag Manager is used to load these tags, it does not itself set cookies, but it manages the analytics tags listed above.

Google may process the data collected via Google Analytics on servers outside the UK. For more information on how Google uses data, see Google’s Privacy Policy and “How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services”.

Your consent and your rights

Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the UK GDPR, we will only set analytics and other non-essential cookies where you have given your consent. Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent.

When you first visit the Site, you will be shown a cookie banner allowing you to accept or reject non-essential cookies. You can change your choice at any time using the methods below.

How to manage your cookies

On our Site: You can update your preferences at any time via the “Cookie settings” link [in the footer / via the banner]. (Update to match your consent tool.)

In your browser: Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies. The methods vary by browser; see your browser’s help pages, or visit www.aboutcookies.org or www.allaboutcookies.org for general guidance.

Google Analytics opt-out: You can prevent your data being used by Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Please note that if you block or delete cookies, some parts of the Site may not function correctly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for operational, legal or regulatory reasons. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
