Today, our CEO and founder, Geoff Carss, had the privilege of speaking to MSc students in the Applied Wildlife Conservation program at the University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol. Geoff’s session, part of the “Innovation for Conservation” module explored the power of creative thinking in tackling environmental, and wildlife conservation challenges and included hands-on guidance for developing impactful ideas. As a practical illustration, he shared insights into the journey of creating Wilder Sensing, our cutting-edge solution in conservation technology.
Geoff was joined by Cat Scutts, one of our Business Development Managers, who is in the final stages of completing her MSc in Wildlife and Conservation at UWE. Cat completed the Innovation module last year and was keen to share her findings with her peers. Cat presented a poster on her ongoing research, which is based on the bioacoustic data collected at SWT Honeygar Farm since November 2022. Cat has been investigating how conservation efforts have influenced biodiversity over time. Her research focuses on species richness and community assemblages, analysing year-on-year changes to understand the impact of conservation interventions to date.
These collaborations exemplify how innovation and technology can intersect with ecological research to drive meaningful environmental change. We’re proud to support initiatives like these and inspire the conservation leaders of tomorrow!
